For the first five years of my career, I worked as a Graphic Designer, but swiftly moved onto web design in the year 2000. In 2005 I started a company called Darryl Design in Cape Town and opened an office here in Gothenburg in 2008, a year after moving to Sweden. Today I work as a Web Strategist/Client Director for Embryo.
I love design, I love problem solving and I love working with people. For me, design is all about solving a problem. You have to know what the end user wants, only then, can you start designing a product, a service or an interface that suits them and matches their needs. As a web strategist I help my clients understand their own websites by making it work better for them and especially their customers.
I have worked with 7 agencies and their clients here in Gothenburg and although a lot of what I do is on paper, on whiteboards and on sticky notes, the design and development of the final website is for me a culmination of hours of thinking and problem solving. This website showcases my work and life as a web strategist.

At heart I’m a designer, so besides being a web strategist, I keep myself busy with some of my other passions, Product Design, Art & Illustration and Photography.
Product design.
Product design has started to become more than just a hobby for me since 2005, with a few concepts also close to first production. Even with product design I aim to design products that solve problems.
Illustration.
Most designers and photographers see their craft in some way as art, and yes it’s true, but I see drawing and painting as art. It’s what usually defines someone as an Artist, whether they can paint or draw.
Photography.
Most of my photography I have done for myself while traveling, purely for the love of the captured image. I love almost all subject matter, but prefer being a little bit more experimental or artistic as they say.

I am naturally curious about the things in my life. Since moving to Sweden I got very interested in Denim Jeans, Wine from all over the world and Swedish Fashion. The three blogs below is just me sharing my interests on those three subjects.

Denim jeans is big business here in Sweden. Since I have an interest in fashion, this seemed a natural outlet for my curiosity. In 2008 I bought a pair of raw denims jeans from Dr.Denim, wore them every day for 6 months and started a blog about them.
